OUR STORY

The Story of Two Hearts Equine Therapy

I have loved horses for almost my entire life. One winter, as a Christmas present from my mom, I went horseback riding. I didn’t know it then, but my life would change forever. If I could have spent everyday at the barn, I know I would have. Horses became not just a hobby, but a lifestyle. I recognized the challenges that came with horses - the cost, the physically demanding work  - but it didn’t matter to me. I had found my passion, and nothing was going to push me away from it.

When I was 14 years old, I fell in love with Apple Jacks. There was no doubt in my mind that he was meant to be my horse. Over the years, we have developed an incredibly strong bond and spend our time going to horse shows, jumping, barrel racing, trail riding, swimming, and going on adventures. Eventually, I added two more horses into the herd, Candy, the sweetest miniature horse, and Magic, a spirited Arabian.

A few years ago, I read an article on miniature horses going on therapy visits to hospitals. I instantly thought about Candy’s easy-going temperament, kindness, and patience. I knew that would be the perfect job for her. So, I started to train her for therapy work. Three years later, I took Candy to local parks, PetSmart, and a birthday party. I will never forget the way people’s faces lit up when they saw her. I wanted to create more opportunities for people to connect with horses so I took an online Animal Assisted Therapy course and began to dream of opening an Equine Therapy Center. In August 2022, I started Two Hearts Equine Therapy which has grown to provide equine connection sessions, pony rides, birthday parties, horse camps, family events, and more!

I believe being around horses is an incredibly rewarding and therapeutic experience. There is something magical about the connection between horses and humans. It's as though two hearts beat together as one.
